Building Financial Confidence Through Education
We've spent seven years helping Canadians understand investment fundamentals without the jargon or false promises
How We Started Teaching What Really Matters
Back in 2018, I was sitting across from a friend who'd just lost a chunk of his retirement savings to a "guaranteed" investment scheme. He kept asking me the same question: "Why didn't anyone teach me this stuff before?"
That conversation stuck with me. Here was someone smart enough to run his own business, but he'd never learned the basics about how markets actually work or how to spot red flags in investment pitches.
So we started Verdicon with a simple idea: teach people the fundamentals they need to make better financial decisions. No get-rich-quick promises. No complex strategies that only work on paper. Just solid education about how investing actually works.
What Drives Our Teaching Approach
These principles shape every lesson we create and every interaction we have with our students
Real-World Focus
We teach using actual market examples and case studies from the past decade. Students learn from real situations they might encounter, not theoretical scenarios that look perfect on paper.
Honest Expectations
Investing involves risk, and markets go up and down. We prepare students for both the opportunities and challenges they'll face as individual investors.
Critical Thinking
We spend significant time teaching students how to evaluate investment opportunities and avoid common pitfalls. Skepticism can be just as valuable as optimism.
The People Behind Your Learning Experience
Our small team combines decades of investment experience with a genuine passion for teaching complex concepts in straightforward ways
Why We Love Teaching Investment Fundamentals
Most of us came to education after years working in various corners of the financial industry. What we noticed was a gap between what people needed to know and what they were actually learning.
Too many educational programs either oversimplify everything or dive into advanced strategies before covering the basics. We focus on the middle ground - comprehensive enough to be useful, but accessible to people who are just starting their investment journey.
Our upcoming fall 2025 program will include modules on portfolio construction, risk assessment, and market analysis. But we always start with the fundamentals: what are you actually buying when you purchase a stock or bond?

Learning That Actually Sticks
We've found that people learn investment concepts best when they can see how everything connects to their own financial goals. That's why our programs focus on practical application rather than abstract theory.
